Every year thousands of skiers and snowmobilers flock to this tucked away town to make their pilgrimage into the forest. On top of providing exclusive access to some of America’s most treasured wildlife, this area is filled with lakes. With 28 bodies of water, Eagle River has the largest inland chain of freshwater lakes in the world. This is mirrored by Vilas and the neighboring Oneida county, which have the densest concentration of lakes in the world.
