Mini Vacations in Wisconsin

Mini Vacations in Wisconsin

If you’re anything like me, you often daydream about how great it would be to just be on vacation all the time. Like a permanent vacation. Like all of those people that you vaguely remember from high school on Instagram who don’t seem to have any source of income but they’re constantly jetting off to faraway destinations.

We’re not all fortunate enough to live life as one big vacation, but I think that helps us appreciate the time we get off even more. The time we do get to spend away is then full of excitement, joy, fun, and appreciation.

In between bigger trips or when we just don’t have the time for a full vacation, a mini vacation is a perfect solution to the monotony. It’ll give you just enough time to kick back and relax at your rental for a day or two and spend another day or two exploring what that particular area has to offer.

And there’s one location for the perfect mini vacation in Wisconsin that will leave you feeling so refreshed that you won’t even notice how short it was: Adeline’s House of Cool! Your search for the perfect, private retreat in Wisconsin is over. Here’s why:

Mini Vacations in Wisconsin

There’s something for every season!

From January all the way through December, each month has something to offer at Adeline’s. In the colder months, you can warm your outsides by one of the fireplaces or in the hot tub, and you can warm your insides at the 12-foot bar. In the warmer months, you can enjoy easy access to Lake Puckaway, sip drinks on a porch swing, watch movies in the outdoor theater, and play games inside.

In the months where the weather’s somewhere in-between (spring and fall), you can hike, bike, and bird watch right outside, and play pool, roast marshmallows over the firepit, and create your adventure theme song at the piano or jukebox. And when you’re ready to venture just a little bit farther for festive activities and adventures, there are many great options nearby:

In January, February, and March, you can go ice fishing on Lake Puckaway or ski in the Grand River Marsh Wildlife Area. You can also snowmobile, iceboat, skate, and sled. Each of these options offers breathtaking views and adventurous memories to bring home with you.

April, May, and June are the perfect months for mingling and enjoying local festivities. From Lake Puckaway’s Annual Walleye Tournament and the Fish N’ Fun festival to the Waupun Festival, there’s something for adventurers of all ages. You’ll get to explore, eat, catch shows, watch fireworks, enjoy live music, and if you’re particularly brave, hop on the carnival rides!

From July through September, it’s easy to find a multitude of fun events to enjoy. On Fridays in July and August, there are free public concerts to enjoy. You can pack a picnic and blankets and enjoy a relaxing afternoon listening to live music from country to classic rock and many genres in-between. July is also known for the annual Green Lake 4th of July parade where you’ll find shows, music, and festive fireworks.

The first weekend of August is home to the Green Lake County Fair, a fun and family friendly event, and the Harvest Fest in September will transform downtown Green Lake into a beautiful sanctuary with a craft fair, vendors, entertainment, and all of the other wonderful little things about fall!

October through December is my personal favorite time of year, and one of the best timeframes for a mini vacation in Wisconsin (although they’re all pretty amazing!) October’s Green Lake Folk Art Festival is a craft lover’s dream come true. You can enjoy demonstrations from art painting to weaving, and purchase everything from hand-made soaps, clothing, and jewelry to apples, honey, and meat. In November, you can take pictures with Santa, enjoy the parade and tree lighting ceremony while sipping hot chocolate, visit craft fairs, bid at a silent auction, and much more.

But the best month for holiday and festivity lovers is December. There are tons of events for all ages, “living windows” displays throughout downtown Ripon, visits with the Clauses, live reindeer, horse-drawn carriage rides, and a tour of the enchanted forest! This is a month that will bring out the best in all of us, despite the chill in the air.
